I've had a pretty exciting week in terms of lifestuff, filled with a lot of good news and happy tidings, which I may get into once things get more officialized. In the meantime, have some photos of my very first tattoo convention: Lefty's Third Annual Tattoo Expo in Coralville.
I don't attend very many conventions, but the ones I have tended to be quite a bit larger than this one, which consisted of one ball room at a nearby convention center/hotel. So I was pleasantly surprised to find it significantly less claustrophobic than I'd expected (though I did go on the last day, when I imagine things had mellowed out). This being a smallish event in Iowa meant that the folks present were very friendly and talkative-but-not-in-an-obnoxious-way, which made for an overall enjoyable experience.
Hard at work is the appallingly talented David Rich of Vesania Ink, and the main reason why we came.
Corset piercing! I did get a chance to see this once the the rings were closed up and the ribbons threaded through them, but I was too excited about other news to take a picture. So you will just have to imagine the very pretty results.
There was also a wee circus:

I really liked the carpet.
Here's Joe stripping for the panel of judges (Extensive Color category).
It didn't occur to me to enter my back piece for the glory of the inimitable E.J. Han until too late. Next time!
